How EARNEDU LLC collects, uses, and protects your information

Effective Date: May 29, 2026

EARN EDU is an educational technology platform operated by EARNEDU LLC, a Virginia limited liability company. We are committed to protecting the privacy of students, teachers, and school administrators who use our platform. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

01

Who We Are

EARNEDU LLC ("EARN EDU," "we," "us," or "our") operates the EARN platform, accessible at earnedu.com. EARN is an educational technology tool designed to help K–12 teachers and students in Virginia track SOL (Standards of Learning) performance and access targeted academic resources.

02

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information in order to provide the EARN platform:

We do not collect Social Security numbers, dates of birth, home addresses, financial information, or any biometric data.
03

How We Use Your Information

Information collected through EARN is used solely to operate and improve the platform. Specifically, we use it to:

We do not use student data for advertising, marketing, or any commercial purpose other than providing the EARN platform itself.

EARN uses Google Sign-In (OAuth) for authentication. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google account data for any purpose beyond authenticating your identity and enabling access to EARN.

04

FERPA Compliance

EARN handles student education records as defined under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We operate as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest, acting under the direction of the school or district that deploys EARN.

We do not disclose student education records to any third party without appropriate authorization, except as required by law. Schools and districts retain ownership and control over their student data at all times.

All student data is deleted at the end of each academic school year, or upon request when a school or district ends its relationship with EARN. Parents or guardians seeking to exercise FERPA rights — including the right to inspect, review, or request amendment of their child's education records — should contact their school or district directly.

05

Data Sharing

We do not sell student data. We do not share personally identifiable student information with third parties for commercial purposes. Limited data sharing occurs only in the following circumstances:

06

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure. These include:

No system is completely secure. In the event of a data breach affecting student information, we will notify affected schools and districts in accordance with applicable law.

07

Data Retention

Student data is retained only as long as necessary to provide the EARN platform. When a school or district ends its relationship with EARN, we will delete student data upon request.

Teachers may request deletion of their data at any time by contacting us at the address below.

08

Children's Privacy

Students do not self-register for EARN — they are added to the platform when a teacher uploads a MasteryConnect tracker. When a student signs in, EARN captures their school-issued Google account email address via Google OAuth. All other student data — name, student ID, and SOL performance levels — is uploaded by teachers, not collected from students directly. EARN does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 outside of the school context governed by FERPA.

Parents or guardians who have questions about their child's data in EARN should contact us directly using the information below.

09

Your Privacy Rights

As a Virginia resident, you have rights under the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (CDPA). These rights apply to personal information we hold about you and may be exercised by contacting us directly:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@earnedu.com. For student data rights under FERPA, please contact your school or district directly. We will respond to all requests within a reasonable time and in accordance with applicable law.

10

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage schools, teachers, and administrators to review this policy periodically. Continued use of EARN after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

EARN does not currently respond to Do-Not-Track (DNT) browser signals, as no uniform industry standard for DNT has been established. If a standard is adopted that applies to us, we will update this policy accordingly.
